Pompeo will lead the team to Mexico City for meetings with President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, a feisty leftist populist who won a landslide victory on July 1, as well as his outgoing predecessor Enrique Peña Nieto, and other senior government officials. Pompeo will be accompanied by President Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, who is nominally in charge of the Mexico portfolio. Back in 2009, where was the outrage when Carlos Slim, the wealthiest Mexican in Mexico buys into the Times to help pay down debt. The players who went ahead to “negotiate” a deal. Why send a Treasury guy to a trade meeting? The answer in an article was that he [Mnuchin] handles economic sanctions. That’s just the public statement. But you see, the circle always comes together. Obrador has known many of the players in today’s Russian / laundering saga. López Obrador hired former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani to craft a zero-tolerance policy that would help reduce escalating crime in Mexico City. Crime fighting skills were huge. People paid huge $$$$$ for his “expertise”. Mexico too. The Republican Party has its future riding on him. Not in 2004, of course— but definitely in 2008, by which time the party will have to expand its base well beyond the Christian Right.”

The paper editorialized against the recruiting of Giuliani, a “proverbial repressor of the poor and marginalized.” A dogmatic statement, perhaps, but is it untrue? Remember workfare, stop and frisk policing, and Patrick Dorismond? For those that don’t remember, here’s information for your enjoyment. But I digress. This is about Trump/Mexico and a deal. Giuliani was the connection then and still is now.
So Trump wants the deal with Mexico b/c he wants it to help him. It can’t be signed until November. He plans on terminating NAFTA. The deals not done, it’s just another photo-op today because of John McCain. It’s a “framework” agreement, not a NAFTA deal. Congress needs to review. Canada has to be involved.
